Kelly Hanson is a PhD competitor in English at Indiana University, Bloomington. When she's not utilizing her iPad for exploration, you can discover her on Twitter @krh121910.

I was sufficiently fortunate to be skilled an iPad smaller than expected for Christmas this year, and I've invested some energy over the occasion break attempting to make sense of the best applications and tablet practices to make this innovation work for me. While utilizing a tablet to review understudy papers is helpful, I am most keen on utilizing this tablet for examination purposes. From perusing and clarifying articles, to perusing ebooks, to getting to my exploration databases, to cleaning up my office, I need this tablet to act as an examination instrument.

While I found a great deal of data on utilizing iPads (or tablets all the more by and large) to teach, I discovered relatively little on the most proficient method to utilize them for examination. In the most recent two years, tablet innovation has progressed significantly, and there are various energizing application advancements since the last time GradHacker investigated tablet and exploration use in 2012. I've found various awesome apparatuses and applications (some of which, as Evernote, we've talked about some time recently). The following are my two most loved applications for scholarly research.

Note: both of these are free, effectively available, and have a great deal of free, open-access content. Nonetheless, they work best if your establishment has an alliance with them.
